The Beginning
After 30 years of living abroad for extended periods in the USA, France, Singapore and the UAE, Jon and Melissah decided it was time to find a new challenge that would bring them back home to Australia.
Motivated by the desire to build a family business that will be passed on to future generations, they decided to venture into the wine business with the acquisition of an established vineyard in 2017.
Saint-Clar Estate is Born
The vineyard was renamed Saint-Clar Estate, taking its name from a small village in the South-West of France. Located on the outskirts of Macclesfield in the Adelaide Hills wine region, Saint-Clar is only a picturesque 45 minute drive from Adelaide, South Australia. 8 hectares of natural habitat are maintained to provide biodiversity in supporting 24 hectares of wine grape producing vines.
The Journey
As Jon and Melissah take the first steps to establish their own wine label, they have the pleasure of supplying numerous small and medium size wine producers with their requirements for premium quality grapes. As the O’Connell family embarked on their journey, we welcome you to share the experience with Saint-Clar Estate’s fruit, accommodation and wine.
